How did Bob Marleys music career begin?
In 1962, Bob Marley’s first record, the song Judge Not, was released through Beverley’s Records. Other songs he recorded that year received little interest, but for Marley it confirmed his desire to be a singer. The next year, Marley formed the band The Wailing Wailers with childhood friends Neville O’Riley “Bunny” Livingston and Peter McIntosh (who later called himself Peter Tosh). Playing and recording ska music, the group achieved #1 status on the Jamaican charts, but lack of financial backing eventually caused the band to split.
