How did Bill Gates change USA history?
Bill Gates was the founder and CEO of Microsoft and played an integral part in the creation of the IBM PC and PC Clones. When IBM launched the IBM PC, they needed an Operating System for the machine to run. Microsoft supplied it under a license, rather than just sell the OS to them. This particular OS was called MS-DOS or DOS. You may have heard of it. Under that license agreement, Microsoft retained the rights to license that OS to other manufacturers. Now the IBM PC itself had proprietary coding that belonged to the IBM. What PC Clone manufacturers did is to determine exactly what that coding did, and then hired engineers to write code independently that performed exactly the same functions. Thus they reverse engineered the PC code and could manufacture the PC Clones. When they did that, Microsoft was right there to license the very same Operating System to them. This pattern continues to this day all the way through Windows 7. Microsoft licenses the OS to all the PC manufacturers. A
