How did an amateur drummer like you get an endorsement deal with Flix?

I never set out to get a deal with anyone. If you have read my answer to ‘why don’t you use wooden sticks’ then you will know that I have been using Flix products since about 2002 or 2003. I used them on all my YouTube videos (a) because I liked them a lot and (b) because they were quiet enough that my drumming did not drown out the background music. It soon became apparent that a lot of you had never come across Flix Sticks. Especially those of you living outside the UK. I was getting questions all the time asking where I had got them, what are they and things. I answered so many queries that I joked I ought to have an endorsement contract. In Spring 2008 I thought what the hell? I might as well write to Flix and tell ‘em about my YouTube work. So I did. A few days later I got an email saying Wow! They loved my work and said it was a great way to market their product, which of course it was / is. And so I have a simple deal – they supply me with sticks, and I carry on doing what I am
