How did an accountant become a technical writer?

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius (551479 B.C.), Chinese philosopher. I constantly edit – I find typos on restaurant menus, bad grammar on signs posted in buildings – that sort of thing. I have a BBA in Finance and accounting experience; however, almost every position I have held had technical writing, training, or a computer software conversion project added to my duties at some point. I found that I enjoy writing, am good at it, and learned the software required for a technical writing career easily. After doing technical writing on the side for a few years, I took a chance and started my own business so I can make a living doing what I love. I find that my accounting and business backgrounds are a plus to my clients since I have real world experience to apply to their projects. Since I thoroughly enjoy the work, clients benefit – to me it is not a job, it is a passion.
