How deep is the Mississippi River?

The largest ocean-going vessels have drafts up to 60 feet. The Mississippi is deep enought for most large ships with drafts up to 50 feet from just north of Baton Rouge to the mouth. The problem is turning these big boats around becuase the main channel in the river may not be wide enought.
