How deep do I install Jet Fill tensiometers in shallow rooted crops?
For plants with shallow root systems of less than 45 cm in depths, such as certain row crops, a single tensiometer with porous ceramic tip located 75% of the way down the root zone can give adequate information. The tensiometer tip can be located near the surface when the plant is young and then lowered as the root system develops.
