It is not clear what caused the crash but the weather was reportedly poor and the turbo-prop aircraft 32 years old. Indonesia has complained of underfunding and maintance problems due to an American arms embargo that was only recently lifted. There were no survivors and several of the bodies are reportedly damaged beyond recognition.
