How dangerous are Muskox?
There are more people killed by Muskox in the arctic than Polar bears each year, because people see them as harmless. Single males are the most dangerous…they can attack for no particular reason….stay well clear. We are not sure how plentiful Muskox are in the valleys we are visiting at present. Inuit from Scoresbydsund hunt the Muskox in September and December. The Polar institute advises no closer that 25 yards.
