How current is the ECOTOX database?
Data Abstraction The majority of literature reviewed for ECOTOX is from 1972 to the present. As data are entered and quality assured, the database system is updated; usually on a quarterly basis. Although our literature searches are broad and do not focus on any particular chemical, ECOTOX has focused recent data abstraction efforts on chemicals of interest to the Agency, particularly pesticides, metals, and some endocrine disrupting chemicals. Literature Searches Literature acquisition searches are continually conducted at MED-Duluth. You should note that even though our literature searches attempt to be comprehensive, they do not locate all relevant literature. In addition, the time lag from conducting a literature search, acquiring the publication and encoding it into the ECOTOX database can be up to or exceed six months. For this reason, we also suggest that you conduct searches of the most recent publication years to ensure you capture data that have not been entered into the ECOT
