How critical is the backlog of civil cases in Superior Court? What can be done?

0

Our Superior Court is currently doing an adequate job of managing the load of civil cases. However, because of projected population increases and expectations of limited funding, we must take a proactive approach to increasing the efficiency of our civil court. Our court should explore programs currently in effect in other jurisdictions to increase efficiency. For example, Sacramento Superior Court uses a panel of pro tem judges for mandatory settlement conferences. I am in favor of exploring all areas wherein judicial economy and efficiency would be increased. Will the taxpayers get their money’s worth from your compensation and retirement benefit? How long until you plan to retire? At age 48, my intention is to serve for the next 20 years. My commitment is to serve with distinction. David E. Drivon is a lawyer in private practice who previously served as a San Joaquin County prosecutor.
