How create backup WINDOWS copy of iTunes on external drive?

If it’s doable, I’d like to know how to back up my iTunes library in Windows format on an external drive. I want to do this so that if/when my iMac goes, I’ll have the option of buying a Windows machine and be able to access my iTunes library from the new Windows machine. (I seriously doubt I’d ever buy a Windows machine again, but Macs are so expensive, I just wanna be able to keep my options open.) I don’t wanna do the Boot Camp thing, don’t wanna put XP or anything Windows on my internal. I would put XP on an external if it’s necessary to accomplish my mission and possible to do Boot Camp on an external, but it doesn’t appear to be. I’m not a techie, so please talk to me like I’m an idiot Thanks!
