How could we measure OH&S performance when targeting zero incident rates?
The standard defines OH&S objectives to be goals, in terms of measurable results of an organization?s management of its OH&S risks. There are a great number of measurable results that could be identified to demonstrate effective management of an organization?s OH&S risks as it targets zero incident rates. Some suggestions which are deemed proactive or leading indicators of an organization?s OH&S performance are those that demonstrate: • effective hazard and risk identification and evaluation • effective training results • effective communication (internal and external) • effective corrective and preventive actions as well as any incident investigation.
