To change wireless companies without losing your current number you would need to contact the new company and tell them you want to “port” your number from Virgin. To do this, you will need your Virgin account number and any passwords associated with your account. “Porting” transfers your number from your current carrier to a new one. You will not need to contact Virgin directly to cancel your account, as it will be cancelled automatically once the port goes through. If you do cancel your account directly through Virgin you will not be able to port your number to another carrier.
