How contagious are cold sores? How do they spread?
Cold Sores are the physical symptoms of the herpes virus. The virus is extremely contagious, and it is spread via direct and sometimes indirect contact between the cold sore ‘blisters’ and broken skin. I’d like to point out that even a tiny, un-noticable cut is enough for the virus to get into the body. It can also be spread by sharing things like drink glasses, lip gloss, etc. Once someone is infected with herpes, they have it forever. They are only infectious when the blisters are present, and a small amount of time before and after they’re present. Blisters usually appear when the infected person is tired / run down / sick.
