How comprehensive is GKRs grading syllabus?

0

GKR is very reliant on kata as a grading criteria. There is no specific criteria for grading, other than the kata that one must perform, and improvement since the previous grade. However, one’s basics or kihon will be tested at every grade, and must demonstrate quality appropriate to the student’s attempted grade. Jiu kumite (free fighting) is usually used to a lesser extent, to assess an adult student’s ability as well, especially at higher grades. Most instructors will also consider less tangible criteria such as training effort, attitude, and improvement since the last grade. On rare occasions, poor attitude or effort during a grading can result in a failed grade.
