How common is epilepsy and what causes it?
Epilepsy is not a rare disorder, as international surveys have estimated that around 1 in 200 people suffer from recurrent epilepsy. However, though the disorder is not rare, little is still known about the causes. In seven out of ten cases, no cause for the disorder can be found. Common causes among the other three in ten can range from head injury to lead poisoning, infection, and more.
