How common are abnormal pap smears?

0

After a baby or not, abnormal paps are fairly common. However once you have an abnormal pap, don’t be surprised if your doc has you come back for another one two or three times a year. This is also normal if you follow up is normal. I had polyps, they never amounted to anything but for five years, I was going for a pap twice a year. I was clear of the polyps for two years during this five year period. Don’t get too worried about this. If you get your paps regular, at least if it is something, it can be caught quickly. An added note, the last time I had an abnormal pap, I to this day believe my doc was in a hurry and didn’t ‘take enough tissue’. My next one and every one since has been fine. Take a deep breath and relax—let me know how you do.
