How come we as americans don`t celebrate guy fawkes day or do we?

In a nutshell: Guy Fawkes was a man involved in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, he basically tried, and failed, to blow up the Houses of Parliament. On the night of November 5th, throughout Britain commemorate the capture of Guy Fawkes with bonfires and fireworks, and by burning an effigy of Guy. In New Zealand, and some other countries in the commonwealth, we buy fireworks and either set them off ourselves, or attend fireworks nights. But as the laws are getting tighter and tighter each year I wonder how long these festivities will go on…. So to answer your questions, I see no reason why Americans would celebrate a British festival, as it has no relation whatsoever.
