How come there aren (m)any magical items?
Unfortunately, many games in this genre seem to be driven senselessly by magical items. One result of this is that the “magic” in the items becomes commonplace, and characters begin to associate more with the magic and less with their class, race, or alignment. This is especially true of MUDs, though it’s also common to chat-based games, at high levels. By limiting the availability of non-spell magic, players should be able to associate more with their characters’ own talents.
