How come the scientific revolution was able to occur?
How did we get here? – Before the Scientific Revolution people who were curious about nature depended on the findings of a few authorities like Aristotle. -Renaissance humanists mastered more languages like Latin and Greek, thus allowing a wider range of scholarly works. – Reading the different ancient works caused some conflicts in ideals, leading to questioning of Aristotle’s works. – “Technical problems such as calculating the tonnage of ships accurately” caused a stimulation of scientific activity for more accurate manners of measurement – invention of new instruments allowed more scientific experimentations (telescope and microscope) – study of mathematics spurred by the study of ancient mathematics allowed Newton and Galileo etc. to use math to discover the truths about nature What were the differences in the cosmological theories (geocentric/heliocentric) at the time? How were they different from ideas of the past?
