How come the moon is yellow and i can only see the bottom half?

The earth was not blocking the light to the moon. That would be a lunar eclipse and that can only happen when the moon is full. Right now it is a first quarter moon. The lit side will always be on the bottom when the first quarter moon is setting. The angle will be somewhat different depending on the season. The lit side of the moon is always facing toward the sun. The moon looks more yellow or orange when it is close to the horizon for the same reason that the sun does. Longer wavelengths, (yellow, orange, and red), penetrate the atmosphere more than the shorter wavelengths, (toward the blue end.) The blue light is scattered more as it comes through the atmosphere.
