How come the Identd is not responding?
First of all, make sure you have really enabled the identd support. And if you are running on a Unix machine, your browser need to be executed by root or superuser, so that the applet will have the permission to listen to the low port number. Also notice that, Identd basically needs to listen to an incoming request from the IRC server, if your network or firewall does not allow incoming traffic, identd will not be able to send back the response to IRC server.
