How come nobody knows about immortal beings?
Convienient plot device. Actually, organizations like the Red Gate Society don’t advertise their presence because of the risk of being discovered by other immortals, not humans. If the public can find out where they are at, then so can their enemies. They are far more effective if other immortals know they exsist, but not who or where they are. Ordinary immortals mostly don’t reveal themselves for privacy. Nobody wants to be the ‘freak’. Immortal criminals hide from humans because criminals like to hide from everybody. In cases where the criminal doesn’t care about revealing themselves, they are usually violating the Immortal Intereferance Code enough where the Red Gate Society (and similar organizations) will hunt them down. And seriously, if your neighbor told you they were a vampire, would you believe them. Probably not.
