How come New Zealand consistently produce rugby union sides of such good quality ?
The answer to this was on a recent documentary on TV. NZ men were keen to represent NZ on the world stage & show the British Empire (NZ is part of the Commonwealth & colonised by the British) what we were made of. They did this by going to war re the 1st & 2nd world war & the Boer war in South Africa. The other way to prove themselves was on the rugby field. They had such a desire to impress & to prove their manhood that’s what made them so good. It was commented that when NZ men first played rugby overseas, they were seen as both physically & mentally resilient, much more so than the opposition teams. This was due to the pioneering spirit as NZ was such a new country. This is also part of the NZ persona where you “give it a go”, meaning it makes no difference to us if we’ve never done something before, we will just have a try & see what happens, & normally we succeed. This goes for anything, not just sport, I mean look at the arts too, NZ has more Oscars than any other country if you
