How come most JDM engines have low mileage even though many of them are more than 10 years old?
Because inspecting a JDM vehicle in Japan is rigorous and cost a lot of money! New cars are exempt from the inspection, but only until they are 3 years old, when then they must undergo this tough inspection every two years. Now, after an auto is 10 years old, the inspection must be done annually. This is where most Japanese car owners write off their cars, to avoid expensive inspections, and then buy new ones. This issue is also a reason why our JDM vehicles and also the other JDM parts we import come with such good quality and condition.
