How come MLB Extra Innings isn showing the Yankee game today?
Fox hates competition. If you remember last year extra innings didn’t strike a deal to carry games on digital cable until about a week before the season. Fox, and ESPN in part were arguing having so many games opposite the ones they carried went against the contracts they signed with MLB before extra innings existed. So we the fans have a more limited selection of games whenever FOX carries a game or to a lesser extent when ESPN does too. What really stinks is Fox has the right to submit a list of games to be blacked out regionally that are directly airing against their broadcast, over overlapping their broadcast. So thru the MLB office they schedule games a little later on a Saturday to widen the list of teams they can request a blackout on (usually the popular teams that would draw strong ratings as Fox is required to air each team once over the year)- generally anything from 1pm-7pm. That’s why in the northeast you are kinda screwed if your team is just out of local affiliate viewin
