Believe it or not, the jury selection process is random. Every year in October, the Placer County jury office obtains a current list from Department of Motor Vehicles and Voter Registration/Election departments and merges the two source lists to form a master list. Duplicated names are removed if they are exact in spelling of name and address. A potential juror is any person whose name appears on either source list. That means that if your spouse, neighbor or friend is on the master list, they can randomly be selected for jury duty.
