Pot is most definitely less harmful than alcohol. In fact, marijuana is one of the least harmful drugs around, while some of the only substances worse than alcohol are heroin and cocaine (I’m sure there are others, too, but I forget which). There are two reasons I can think for pot being illegal. It is considered the gateway drug, so while weed itself is not harmful, it leads people to try other things (such as heroin or cocaine) that are.
