How come Alcohol and cigarettes are legal and pot isnt =?

Imagine if Marijuana was legal. The Gov’t is corrupt and does not care about our health. They buy and probably sell cigarettes and maybe even make some type of cigarettes. Beer is brewed here and sold…if Marijuana is legal the Gov’t won’t make any money, because ppl who smoke now know ppl who is selling it, and if it was legal they would just continue buy it from that person, not the ones being sold in the stores (though it would be safer because it wouldn’t be laced with Cocaine or other stuff). So, I also believe the Gov’t makes more money having cops jail and fine weed smokers, so that to me is my biggest belief. I feel it makes sense, I mean come on Cigarettes and tobacco does have a lot of chemicals and KILLS…the gov’t cares about money. More than one site says there over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes, and about 69 are known to cause cancer. “The list of 599 additives approved by the US Government for use in the manufacture of cigarettes is something every smoker should see.” A

Political reasons mostly. Early in the 20th century heroin, cocaine and opium were banned at the state level because it was proven they were highly addictive. Marijuana was thrown in by the southwestern states basically to better help deal with Chinese and Mexican immigrant laborers because it was widely known it was part of their culture. Outlawing pot made it easier to deport this “surplus” population during tough economic times. Canibus remained legal in the north east up until the federal government outlawed it. Pot was outlawed at the federal level back in 1937. Again it was mostly because of political pressure this time from the cotton and paper industries because they didn’t want to compete with the hemp industry. By the way the U.S. Constitution is written on paper made from hemp. Of course in order to get the backing of the American people marijuana had to be made to look like “the worst drug in the history of mankind” Thanks to people like Harry J. Anslinger and William Rando

…because there are properties in the hemp plant that are competitive with the petrochemical industry and they did a hit job on it earlier in the century… see: refer madness seriously, the U.S. had problems with pot plants springing up around old rail lines because it was so mass produced and transported in the 1800’s… unfortunately the oil tycoons wanted to keep their monopolies so they shut down the very eco friendly and versatile competition… welcome to world history!!!
