How come a noble profession like teaching cannot attract higher pay?
Even those in the universities are complaining of poor remuneration and poor infrastructure in the universities. Those in the schools and colleges of education are also not left out.When will all these troubles end? Many teachers these days no longer believe that they serve a bigger purpose than just to teach what is in the text books. The low pay, long hours, harassment by parents and also double standards in promotion has put off many aspiring teachers from entering into the teaching profession. Good teachers are costly, but bad teachers cost more. (Bob Talbert) Personally, I’ve always felt it’s obvious that we should pay teachers better. There is no reason to hold teachers to a rigid pay scale based on seniority, let alone the pay scale of the civil service. Teachers perform a much more important job than civil servants.
