How close are we to finding a cure for cancer?

The problem with cancer it is a generic term for mutated cells that group together and cause the disease in certain areas. The generates a second major problem is determining a CURE for cancer in that there are multiple types of cancer and no one drug, procedure, surgery, radiation, or combination thereof will cure any one of them what it does is remove, kills, stuns, or retards the cancer cells so one can live longer. This is the reason there is many times a recurrence of cancer that has been cured. So skin cancer is treated differently from lung, breast, or pancreatic cancer. Each has its own treatment and success rates for increasing ones life. Another issue is many of the treatments cause side effects and some of those side effects cause a mutation of cells so you run the full cycle. Hope this helps a little and is not too confusing.
