How can you tell the gender of a snake?
Other, less reliable, ways of sexing a snake are by tail length – long tail is a male to hold the hemipenes – or if you own a boa or python to look at the spurs – remnants of legs/feet, the larger the spurs the more likely it’s a male – but again, these are inaccurate and should only be used if no other method is available. Take it to the vet and have them probe the animal.
