How can you tell the difference between laziness and depression?
Hello, I think there is a distinct difference between laziness and depression. Laziness has to do with a lack of desire or motivation to do something. It is a learned behavior, meaning the person may develop laziness from his/her environment. A lazy person tends to procrastinate, get other people to do their job, or avoid their other responsibilities. Depression is a more serious issue because it deals with chemical imbalance in your body. Although some say that laziness can be one of the many symptoms of depression, I think it is sluggishness, not laziness. A lazy person is aware that s/he is lazy. S/he is just not willing to do the effort of doing a certain thing. If you feel sluggish, the feeling is more overwhelming. That’s why you sometimes see a depressed person can cry all of a sudden without a specific reason. I hope it helps. Good luck and take care.
