Watercolor is like any other medium, it requires some practice. Don’t add so much water.Sure you have to wet it, but the more paint you have on the brush, the more control you have. Adding water is to make the watercolor lighter. Keep a paper towel or tissue handy to blot up any excess paint. There are materials you can buy that will block out the watercolors that can be taken off after the paint dries and more detail added. Watercolor comes in blocks of paint or tubes of paint. I prefer the tubes as they are thicker and easier to handle. You can spray acrylic sealer over the water color when it is dry. It can be picked up at wal-mart in the craft section.
