Take fizzy drinks bottle. Place fins down the side to improve stability. The “top” of the rocket is the bottom of the bottle (i.e. the open end faces downwards). Make a bung to fit in the top. The bung must be like a cork – able to release itself once the pressure inside the bottle gets to a certain level. The bung must also have a tube through the centre. This tube should be securely attached, and sealed around the edges. Part-fill the bottle with water. Place the bottle in open ground. Use a pump to pump air into the bottle. When the air pressure in the bottle reaches a certain point, the bung will be forced out, and the rocket will launch.
