How can you follow a training (running) schedule if you dont no the distances???
Well there are a few ways to measure the distance and I’ll get to them in a minute. If your training plan says “4km” and another day it says “5km” what it is really saying is that on the second day you have to run a bit further than the first day – so if you don’t know the distance you can use a clock perhaps to see how long you have been out. Anyway, how to measure the distance. You can buy a map of the area – most UK book shops have them (look for ordnance survey maps), then you can wiggle a piece of string round your route and measure how far the string was from start of the route to the end of it. Then use the scale to work out the distance (for example – if you buy one of the red 1:50,000 scale maps and your route with string is 4cm long then on the ground it would be 2kim – the scale will help you work that out) You could go to mapmyrun website and plot the route out on the map there – but that only really works if you are running along roads, not woods. I think googlemaps does t
