The rabies tag should have the veterinary clinic’s address and phone number on it. Call the clinic number and give them the tag number also located on the tag. They should be able to do a search in their computer system by number. The tough part is, each clinic is responsible for their own rabies tags. So, no other clinic would have access to these numbers or know who the dog belongs to. If the dog has a microchip tag on their collar, you can call that number and give them the number on the microchip tag. They will have the information 24/7. Otherwise, if its in the evening, weekend, or holiday, the veterinary clinic you are looking for will be closed and there is no way of locating an owner. Another reason to have your dog microchipped.
