How can women cope in the workplace after breast cancer?
Work issues, of course, cover a lot of different things. Having breast cancer is an almost a mandate to step back and think about your life and the choices you’ve made. And sometimes people decide to make changes in their work life. There also, of course, are the many more pragmatic work issues, having to do with if you’ve been off work on disability. Or if you’ve been working a reduced schedule, you need to figure out when you physically feel well enough and psychologically sturdy enough to take work, and the stresses that always come with work, back into your life. The advice is to go slower rather than faster because it certainly doesn’t do anybody any favors to go back to work too quickly. How can breast cancer be spiritually transforming? I certainly experienced it myself, and I hear it from women all the time, that just the way they aren’t any atheists in a foxhole, there aren’t too many women who’ve been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness who don’t begin to really grapple
