How can we reduce the effects of a tornado?
Over the years people have been working hard at the science of meteorology to increase warning time for tornadoes. By investing more hours and time into the science of meteorology and putting more people onto the fields storm chasing, we can greatly reduce fatalities caused by tornadoes. More warning time becomes more safety in numbers. Another idea I once thought of would be to build homes underground, as in mounds with very thick bulletproof skylights with retractable covers to let in natural lighting. This would allow homes to be comfortable, decrease heating and cooling costs, and also save lives and damage in the event of a tornado. Keeping all people informed is also essential to decrease tornadoes effects on people and their environment. The more you know about something, the better you can protect yourself from them.
