How can we link the Reichstag Fire to the Roman Emporer Nero?
When the Reichstag was burned Hitler blamed his enemies, primarily the communists for the fire even though many suspect he ordered it himself. When Rome was burned Nero blamed his enemies the Christians for it even though many suspect he may have ordered it himself. It’s an interesting comparison because in both cases playing the blame game was an opportunity for Nero and Hitler to expand their power and make a move against their enemies regardless of the true cause of the fire. Also in both cases Nero and Hitler were quick to place blame and made no effort to find out who caused it which only strengthens the assumption that the men in power were the ones who ordered the fires.
