How can we afford to build classrooms and buy future school sites?

School construction and school site acquisition, such as the 33 classroom and new gymnasium addition at SJHS; the 10 classroom, multipurpose room, administration building addition at Mountain View High School; the Ellen Ochoa site; and Warren Cove site acquisition are funded by State School Construction bonds (Proposition 1D) and local bond funds (Measure “V”). State bonds and local bond funds can only be used for site acquisition, and the design and construction of school facilities and may not be used for salaries of staff or the maintenance and operations of school facilities. The opening or delay of opening Megan Cope Elementary School will be a Board conversation over the next couple of weeks.
