How Can Value Judgments Hamper Evaluation And Criticism?
Value judgement is a subjective evaluation, not an objective evaluation. A value judgement is a judgement with a certain value in mind or a set of values in mind. Hence what is correct or acceptable with a certain set of values may not be right with a different set of values. For example living together is not accepted with Indian set of values but it is quite acceptable with western set of values. Since a particular set of values are considered to decide if something is correct or wrong value judgements are always subjective. Hence value judgement may be used in a positive sense or a negative sense where value system is considered or a negative sense where the judgement could happen without proper rational. Hence if value judgements are made, they do not really help evaluation which needs to be really objective and certain important questions have to be answered before the evaluation is complete.
