How can UK solicitors or local MPs help migrant workers if they are affected by retrospective law changes?
Why would an MP get involved. There was never any guarantee that you would be able to get ILR. It’s not something automatic. Thousands of people have to return to their countries every year when their visas run out, or their sponsoring company makes them redundant. Nobody forced you to move your entire life to the UK before you had permanent residency I am also a foreigner living in the UK, and if I lose my job, like 30% of the people in my company have already done, I know that I will have to move back home even though I also have a life in the UK right now.
