How can two nuclear subs collide in the Atlantic?
As an addendum to Mariner31’s reply, it is often said of US Trident submarines (the US versions of the two subs in the news) that the best way to find them is to listen very carefully to the ocean and find a spot that *isn’t* making any noise – that’s where the sub is. Yes, the ocean itself actually makes more noise than a Trident submarine when that submarine doesn’t want to be found. There is a system for keeping NATO missile submarines from colliding with each other – sort of a global underwater traffic control. Not surprisingly, the French don’t participate in this system. See the link. I’m not sure why you’re pleased you weren’t on Mariner 3’s [sic] ship. Unless you were in one of his squadrons, you probably would never have met him on any ship he was ever stationed on because he was most likely only one of about 6,000 sailors on said ship. I am pleased that I didn’t have the same grade school teacher(s) for spelling and punctuation that you had, and am even more pleased that I wa
