How can the UNESCO conventions be used by students?
UNESCO conventions are aimed at promoting the recognition of academic qualifications for academic purposes (e.g. to continue studies in a different institution). Nevertheless, the conventions sometimes hold a de facto and de jure role in recognizing diplomas for professional purposes (e.g. to get a job). It is important to check with the different conventions. In order to use the UNESCO recognition conventions to have a qualification recognized, students should: 1. First consult the convention ratified by both the country where you have done your studies and the country where you would like to continue your studies. For example, if you have done your studies in Slovenia and would like to continue your studies in France, then you would consult the Conventions in the Europe Region (the Lisbon Recognition Convention) to assure that both Slovenia and France have ratified these agreements. 2.
