How can the training be absolutely FREE?
The aerospace industry is one of the most important industries in Oklahoma. Aviation impacts one out of every five Oklahomans and offers well paying jobs in a growing industry. The average aviation related salary is $52,000/yr versus the statewide average of $29,000/yr. As a result, when several aerospace companies found themselves turning away work because they couldn’t find enough trained sheet metal mechanics, Oklahoma responded. The state, through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education, provided funding to establish a training program to meet the industry’s needs. Francis Tuttle’s aircraft sheet metal program is the only publicly available program of its kind in the nation.
