How can the Town of Mt. Crested Butte justify giving away property worth $25,000,000 to a real estate developer?
CBMR has done a great job of communicating its marketing message to Mt. Crested Butte Town Officials. From what SNVP volunteers have been able to obtain from publically available documents and discussions with Town officials, it appears that the Town and CBMR will attempt to justify the giveaway based on affordable housing, trails and access to public lands, an upgraded Gothic Road trailhead parking area, small land dedications for a Post Office and new Town Hall, world-class mini golf, reduced density and building heights, and climbing walls. The public should know that, with the exception of the mini golf and climbing walls, the Town of Mt. Crested Butte has both the authority and obligation to its citizens to require all of these facilities without giving away the public’s parkland.
