With the goal of ensuring providers are prepared to succeed with a global payment system the Commission discussed these issues: – Providing technical assistance, specifically help with health information technology to providers – Making claims data from all payers available to providers for analysis; the state can play a role in analyzing claims so the data is useful to providers – Standardizing quality measurements – Supporting electronic medical records diffusion; the federal stimulus funding will help with this goal – Developing a health information exchange to facilitate increased communication among providers – Educating and engaging patients through employer, insurer and public health initiatives such as chronic disease self-management – Increasing transparency about health system performance and educating consumers about the new payment system – Learning what works and what doesn’t from providers that have experiences with global payment systems – Assisting very small providers
