How can the New York Post cartoon be anything but RACIST ?
Given that most Americans view the Economic Stimulus plan as belonging to President Obama and the media has touted it as HIS stimulus plan, of course the chimp is going to be viewed as representing Obama! Say what you like about who actually wrote and voted for the bill, people’s perceptions are their reality. The folks over at the NY Post aren’t stupid and they understand this. Now, coupled with America’s history of referring to African Americans as monkeys, apes, etc, this adds up to the cartoon being viewed as racist. Deny that it’s racist, and you only make yourself look foolish! And another thing, the chimp that was shot and killed, maimed a woman so badly (ripping her face off) that she could not be identified as a woman by the first responders. That alone is enough to make the cartoon of the chimp offensive and in very poor taste. Having said all that, the Post is allowed to print whatever it deems fit, and I have the right to not read it and distance myself from those who think
