How can the New Orleans Saints be so good one week, yet so bad the next?!

I haven’t been able to follow games as closely as I’d like lately but from what I’ve seen, it seems like the Saints have had a tendency toward this. Beat the best/better teams, then slump and lose to the supposedly lower ability teams. I have to think that has something to do with mental toughness. Let’s face it, the Saints have had a traumatic last few years with Katrina and getting back into their own stadium, so they’ve had their emotions yanked around far, far more than most. As we all know, it’s hard to keep that emotional high going all the time, plus your focus is bound to be distracted. Like, if I take it for granted that I can beat defenders, I might think I’m giving it my all, but am I? Bottom line, it comes down to execution, attention to detail and discipline. Somehow, their focus isn’t there. They’re missing those details that might seem petty when looked at individually, but add up to a big “hole” in their game.
